Procedure → Decision → Discussion → Learning

Take an approved, non-confidential procedure.
Upload the PDF or use its approved content.

Ask Kahoot AI to build a Scenario Practice around situations such as:
> Isolation has been completed, but one energy source cannot be positively verified. What should happen next?

We then review every question, correct the technical details and run it with supervisors or technicians.

Instead of asking, “Did everyone understand?”
we actually see what decision people make.

Incident Learning

Take an anonymised incident-learning summary.

Generate a short Micro Lesson + knowledge check:
What happened → What control failed → What should we recognise next time?

Then use one or two scenario questions:
> You notice the same condition developing during your shift. What is your first action?

Now the incident alert becomes something people interact with, rather than another PDF completing its natural migration into an unread folder.

Why not simply ask ChatGPT to generate MCQs?

We certainly can.
The useful difference here is that Kahoot takes us beyond generating the questions.

It provides the interactive session itself:
Generate → Review → Present/Assign → Participants respond → Discuss → Review results

Kahoot has also introduced a Kahoot Creator app inside ChatGPT, allowing PDFs, notes, articles or ideas to be turned into draft kahoots directly from ChatGPT. Kahoot says that integration is free for ChatGPT users, although a Kahoot account is required to save and host the activity.

That makes the workflow surprisingly simple:
> “Create a 10-question HSE scenario practice from this approved procedure. Focus on decisions employees must make rather than simple memory questions.”

Then open the draft in Kahoot, technically review it and run it.

Free or paid?

Kahoot remains freemium, but there is an important catch for workplace users.
Participants can join without paying, and free accounts exist. However, AI features, advanced formats and participant limits depend heavily on the account type and plan. Kahoot currently states that free Business users can host their own created games for only 3 participants, while paid workplace plans raise those limits substantially.

So I would describe it as:
Excellent to experiment with for free.
Paid plan likely required for regular organisational training.

For HSE use, we should still remove employee identities, client-sensitive information, confidential investigation evidence and unnecessary operational details before uploading anything.

And there is one rule I would put in bold:
> AI may create the exercise. The competent HSE professional must approve the answer.

Kahoot itself warns that AI-generated material can be inaccurate and that the author remains responsible for its accuracy and suitability.

One more important distinction
A good Kahoot score is evidence of participation or knowledge checking.
It is not automatically evidence of practical competence.

Thought for our fraternity
> “Safety training becomes more useful when people have to make a decision, not simply remember a sentence.”

AI can help us build those decision points faster.
Our responsibility is to make sure they reflect the real work, real hazards and correct controls.
