HALL OF FAME

Dr. Laxminarayan Proddutoor trained so much that CPR has become second nature to him. Sounds like they want to teach CPR to good Samaritans, which is great! The only thing he would like to say is that making Indians aware of CPR is a long process—right now, only 2% of people in India know how to do it. As the Chairman of the Community & Corporate Healthcare and Well-being Committee at the J&A Bharat HSE Foundation, he has also taken small steps toward the goal of teaching at least one member of every family in the neighborhood, if not the whole community, how to do it.

The ultimate goal is to teach 100,000 people in the next few years.

Let’s join to appreciate his hard work on this journey.

A big part of being a good Samaritan is knowing CPR, which prepares you to help someone in a life-threatening situation, like a cardiac arrest, before the police or fire department arrive.

To give you a quick idea of what CPR training includes: You can tell if someone is alert and breathing by teaching them basic CPR.

Some of the things you’ll practice are ¹ chest compressions (firmly and quickly pressing in the middle of the chest). “Hands-only” CPR is often suggested these days. High quality CPR involves “Push Hard, Push Fast”. AED training (learning how to use an automated external defibrillator) is also part of a lot of classes. You will also learn about Good Samaritan rules, which protect people who try to help others in times of trouble.
